Making childcare more affordable for Denver families
Too many Denverites still worry about how they’re going to afford quality childcare while balancing the rising cost of living. That’s why we’re working to bring childcare for all to Denver, from birth through kindergarten, easing the burden of overwhelming monthly bills and giving every child the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
By making childcare more accessible and affordable, we can give working families greater financial stability and help parents focus on building a brighter future for their children.
To start, we are creating the Haynes-Gary Task Force, charged with delivering the plan to deliver on childcare for all before the end of our second term. The task force has three jobs.
- First: cut the red tape, so passionate educators can open and run a quality childcare business without drowning in paperwork.
- Second: build a pipeline of well-trained, well-paid caregivers.
- And third: chart the path to make care affordable and accessible for every Denver family within five years.
And we will start the way we always start: by listening to Denver. Over the next six months we will launch a citywide listening tour, going into neighborhoods to hear from the families and providers living this every day. Where families are struggling, where providers are stuck, and what it takes to get this done.
Some cities are betting on server farms as they plan for their futures. We’re betting on our kids.
